  • Come On In!

Got gifts? Yes!  We do!  Gift shopping for local fine art in all price ranges is one motivation for folks to come into the Gallery over and over.  Our twenty four  artists show a wide variety of work. Each month our display changes dramatically with featured artists and new work by  the  cooperative's  members.  Your monthly visit is a must to keep up with what is new.

Talk about visitors....Our guest book reads like the United Nations.  The Gallery was a destination for folks from Shanghai, Korea, Czech Republic, Gabriola, B.C., Yuba City, CA,  just to name a few.  Be sure YOUR guests experience  your friendly hometown Fine Art Gallery!.

Our September show features two slug hunt activists. (I promise, this is the last time I will mention the afore mentioned gastropod mollusk event.)  Patty Watson, of Pawsitively, painter with oils and acrylics,   chaired the event. Caralyn Kieckhaefer, ceramicist,  of Wildcat Lake Pottery,  made the molds and poured the 101  sculptures. Their 3 part show," Water and Flowers" runs from September 9 through October 4.  Our Second Saturday Gallery Night Reception,   September 12,  5 - 8pm, features their work.  Delicious savories, sweets and sips will accompany the artists  and art.  Definitely in collaboration, Kieckhaefer's salmon swim in Watson's waves, ceramic boots on kids stomp in puddles, colorful garden stakes support painted flowers, a 3-D vase shows up in a 2-D painting.  Be wowed by how these two artists in such diverse mediums work together.

Watson will be offering art classes for anyone and everyone interested in drawing or painting in oil and acrylics.  E-mail her at patwat@gmail.com for class schedule, costs, and supply list.  If you are one of the many people who inquire about art classes, now is your opportunity.

We are open Wednesday through Sunday, 10am - 6pm just two blocks up from the ferry on highway 104 at Cleo's Landing.  Come see us soon!

Slugs:  It's a Wrap!

There was the English gentleman with his pith helmet and side arm salt shaker.  There was the guy in hip waders with a bow and arrow.  On August 8th it took eleven hours to hunt and capture the 101 ceramic slugs  the Kingston Art Gallery hid around Kingston.  Some of the 100's of hunters were sluggish.  Others proudly showed off their first found like a trophy before the maps were even available.  The last two were found at 8:00pm, after the silent auction, so giving up was premature.  What a fun infestation!

Paige Lamar won the prize for her slug poem.  She read her delightful poetry, received a $10  prize, a certificate and her poem will be featured on the website of  Kingston's Crab Creek Review.  While the slugs just reclined, exhausted, showing little emotion, the silent auction bidders were intense and competitive with some grandmothers being egged on by  hopeful grandchildren.

Businesses experienced a myriad of eager slug seekers as the town crawled with hunters.  Thanks to the supporters who sponsored a slug to be hidden in their place of business, and to those who supported in other ways.  Slug care taking days are over for this year  for   American Marine Bank, Apple Cove Dental Center, Cleo's Landing - Susan Rodgers, Coffee Exchange, Cup and Muffin, Curves, Edward Jones at Kingston Crossing, Harbor Healing Center, Henery's Hardware and Garden, Kingston Chamber of Commerce, Kingston Crossing Chiropractic, Kingston Lumber, Kingston Mail and Print, Kingston Pizza Factory, Kingston Quilt Shop, Kingston Thriftway, Kitsap County Parks - Lori Raymaker, Kitsap Credit Union, Larson Casteel Company, Liden Bode Printmaking Studio, MoeJoe Coffee Shop, Mora Ice Creamery, North Star Investments, Oak Table Cafe, Pete DeBoer - Kingston Port Commissioner, Pine Cone Gifts, Sacks Feed, Second Chance Children's Consignment Shop, Snippers, State Farm of Silverdale, The Ogden Group.net, and Wetsuit Rental.  What a Group!!!!

The slug slime trail is but a memory for 2009. Just wait for next year!
